Transform Your Tank with Red and Sky Blue Ultra Color
Looking for a centerpiece for the bottom of your reef tank? This Ultra Acanthophyllia is one solitary polyp in salmon red, streaked with sky blue across its outer ridges. A bright blue ring frames the red center, edged in a thin line of purple. Ultra grade pieces carry more color and contrast than a standard Acanthophyllia, and each one is different.
Acanthophyllia (Acanthophyllia deshayesiana) are large polyp stony (LPS) corals that grow as one big, fleshy polyp rather than a spreading colony. Set it on the sand bed or a low, flat spot in the rockwork, where it has room to expand. They grow slowly and are a good fit for reefers with some LPS experience. Give it low to moderate lighting and low to moderate flow, and target feed meaty foods such as mysis once or twice a week; the polyp swells noticeably after a feeding. At night it may extend sweeper tentacles, so leave space between it and nearby corals.
