Most reef tanks start their cleanup crew with snails. The ones here graze film algae, diatoms and hair algae off rock and glass, and all of them are reef safe and easy to keep.
Astrea Snails are the small ones, about half an inch to an inch, and they fit into tight spots in the rockwork. One catch: an Astrea can't turn itself over, so if you see one on its back, flip it. Trochus Snails run up to about an inch and a half and can right themselves when they tip. Mexican Turbo Snails are the heavy hitters at 1.5 to 2.5 inches and clear hair algae fast. They're strong enough to knock loose frags over, so glue your frags down.
A mix works well: Astreas and Trochus for the film on glass and rock, plus a few Turbos for heavier growth. Our snails are quarantined before we sell them, and we confirm your delivery day with you before anything ships.
