Description

Splatter Hammer Coral (Single Head)

Typical needs for this coral type. Ask us if you're unsure.

Transform Your Tank with a Bold, Living Centerpiece

Looking for a showstopper that commands attention... The Splatter Hammer is one of the most visually striking LPS corals available in the reef hobby — and the "Splatter" morph takes it to another level entirely. Irregular bursts of contrasting pigmentation across each flowing tentacle tip make every single head completely unique, no two exactly alike. This is not a coral you find at every shop, and buying a single-head frag means you're getting a focused, manageable piece of something genuinely rare.

Single-head Hammer Corals (Euphyllia ancora) are an ideal size for aquarists who want maximum impact without overwhelming a mixed reef layout — place it with space to sway and it will reward you with steady, healthy growth over time. Hammers have a confident, flowing personality: their long, fleshy tentacles extend dramatically under good flow and retract quickly if disturbed, a satisfying sign of a thriving specimen. They're also one of the few LPS corals known to form symbiotic relationships with clownfish species — a rare dynamic that adds life and movement to your display. For intermediate reef keepers ready to step up their game, this is a deeply rewarding addition.

QUICK STATS & CARE GUIDE

  • Common Name: Splatter Hammer Coral
  • Current Size: Single head (approx. 1–1.5 inch polyp extension)
  • Care Level: Moderate
  • Temperament: Semi-aggressive — produces sweeper tentacles; provide adequate spacing from neighboring corals
  • Diet: Photosynthetic (zooxanthellate); benefits from weekly target feeding of meaty foods such as mysis or reef roids
  • Reef Safe: Yes, with caution — maintain 4–6 inches of clearance from adjacent corals
  • Water Conditions: Temp 76–79°F | Salinity 1.025–1.026 | pH 8.1–8.3 | dKH 8–10 | Ca 400–450 ppm | Mg 1250–1350 ppm | Moderate flow, moderate lighting (PAR 75–150)

WHY BUY FROM THE CORAL BOUTIQUE?

Every specimen we ship from The Coral Boutique is ethically sourced, fully quarantined, and conditioned in our Miami facility until it's eating well and showing strong polyp extension — so what arrives at your door is already thriving, not just surviving. We don't cut corners on live marine specimens, and our livestock guarantee backs that commitment every time.

WYSIWYG on Select Items

If this coral is in our WYSIWYG collection and has one in stock, the photos show the exact frag or colony that ships to you. Otherwise, the photos may be representative.

Shipping & Pickup

Coral orders ship Monday through Wednesday. We confirm a delivery day with you before your order goes out, and we will hold it if the weather is bad or a coral needs more time in quarantine.

Coral orders over $399 qualify for free shipping. Fish orders over $599 qualify for free shipping. Free same-day Miami pickup is available at 46 NW 36th St and is usually ready in 1–2 hours.

Live Arrival Guarantee

Eligible coral orders are covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee. Photograph the coral in its sealed bag before you open anything, then email that photo with your order number within two hours of delivery. Our team reviews every claim and gets you an answer within one business day.

Acclimation

For best results, acclimate slowly and place new corals in lower light and flow before moving them to their final position. Coral response can vary depending on tank stability, lighting, flow, and water parameters.

Photography

We photograph our corals in house, up close, so you can judge color, shape and polyp extension. For WYSIWYG listings with one in stock, the photographed coral is the exact coral that ships.

SHOT IN HOUSE
