Description

Indo Hammer Coral Colony (6+ Heads)

Typical needs for this coral type. Ask us if you're unsure.

Transform Your Tank with a Statement-Making LPS Centerpiece

Looking for a showstopping reef tank anchor... The Indo Hammer Coral is one of the most visually commanding large polyp stony corals available to the serious aquarist. With 6 or more heads sweeping in unison, this colony delivers an undulating, almost hypnotic presence that single frags simply cannot replicate. Sourced directly from Indonesia, this piece carries the rich coloration and polyp density that collectors recognize immediately.

A colony of this size is a significant milestone — it represents years of natural growth and arrives ready to dominate a mid-to-lower reef placement in your saltwater aquarium. Hammer corals are famously interactive; their long, flowing tentacles extend dramatically during feeding and respond visibly to current and light, giving your marine aquarium a sense of life that few other LPS corals can match. As the colony matures and continues to bud, you'll watch it evolve into an ever-expanding wall of movement and color.

QUICK STATS & CARE GUIDE

  • Common Name: Hammer Coral, Anchor Coral
  • Current Size: 6+ heads (colony)
  • Care Level: Moderate
  • Temperament: Semi-aggressive (sweeper tentacles can sting neighboring corals — allow adequate spacing)
  • Diet: Photosynthetic; benefits from supplemental target feeding with meaty foods such as mysis or reef roids 1–2x weekly
  • Reef Safe: Yes (with caution — maintain distance from adjacent corals)
  • Water Conditions: 72–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, pH 8.1–8.4, dKH 8–11, calcium 400–450 ppm; moderate lighting and moderate flow

WHY BUY FROM THE CORAL BOUTIQUE?

Every specimen we ship from The Coral Boutique is ethically sourced, fully quarantined, and conditioned in our Miami facility — we only release corals for sale once they are actively feeding and displaying strong polyp extension. When your Hammer colony arrives, it's ready to thrive.

WYSIWYG on Select Items

If this coral is in our WYSIWYG collection and has one in stock, the photos show the exact frag or colony that ships to you. Otherwise, the photos may be representative.

Shipping & Pickup

Coral orders ship Monday through Wednesday. We confirm a delivery day with you before your order goes out, and we will hold it if the weather is bad or a coral needs more time in quarantine.

Coral orders over $399 qualify for free shipping. Fish orders over $599 qualify for free shipping. Free same-day Miami pickup is available at 46 NW 36th St and is usually ready in 1–2 hours.

Live Arrival Guarantee

Eligible coral orders are covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee. Photograph the coral in its sealed bag before you open anything, then email that photo with your order number within two hours of delivery. Our team reviews every claim and gets you an answer within one business day.

Acclimation

For best results, acclimate slowly and place new corals in lower light and flow before moving them to their final position. Coral response can vary depending on tank stability, lighting, flow, and water parameters.

Photography

We photograph our corals in house, up close, so you can judge color, shape and polyp extension. For WYSIWYG listings with one in stock, the photographed coral is the exact coral that ships.
