Description

Torch Coral

Typical needs for this coral type. Ask us if you're unsure.

Transform Your Tank with Living, Swaying Reef Sculpture

Looking for a showpiece that moves... The Torch Coral (Euphyllia glabrescens) is one of the most visually striking large-polyp stony (LPS) corals available to the home aquarium hobbyist. Its long, flowing tentacles, tipped with distinctive rounded ends, sway hypnotically with current, mimicking the ocean floor in a way few other corals can match. Whether you're building a dedicated LPS reef tank or adding a focal point to a mixed system, this is a specimen that commands attention the moment it opens up.

Torch Corals grow in a branching, torch-like formation and can develop into impressive colonies over time, making every frag a genuine long-term investment in your saltwater aquarium. They're rewarding to keep because they respond visibly to good conditions: full, billowing polyp extension is your sign that the reef tank environment is dialed in. Clowns may also adopt them as a surrogate host, adding an extra layer of natural behavior to your display that never gets old.

QUICK STATS & CARE GUIDE

  • Common Name: Torch Coral
  • Current Size: Varies by availability, contact us for current stock sizing
  • Care Level: Moderate (sensitive to parameter swings; consistent chemistry is key)

  • Water Conditions: 72 to 78°F, salinity 1.025 to 1.026, pH 8.1 to 8.4, dKH 8 to 11, Mg 1250 to 1350 ppm; moderate lighting and moderate flow

WHY BUY FROM THE CORAL BOUTIQUE?

Every Torch Coral we ship is ethically sourced, fully quarantined, and conditioned in our Miami facility until it's actively extending and feeding well, so what arrives at your door is a healthy, acclimated specimen ready to thrive. At The Coral Boutique, we don't ship until the coral is ready.

WYSIWYG on Select Items

If this coral is in our WYSIWYG collection and has one in stock, the photos show the exact frag or colony that ships to you. Otherwise, the photos may be representative.

Shipping & Pickup

Coral orders ship Monday through Wednesday. We confirm a delivery day with you before your order goes out, and we will hold it if the weather is bad or a coral needs more time in quarantine.

Coral orders over $399 qualify for free shipping. Fish orders over $599 qualify for free shipping. Free same-day Miami pickup is available at 46 NW 36th St and is usually ready in 1–2 hours.

Live Arrival Guarantee

Eligible coral orders are covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee. Photograph the coral in its sealed bag before you open anything, then email that photo with your order number within two hours of delivery. Our team reviews every claim and gets you an answer within one business day.

Acclimation

For best results, acclimate slowly and place new corals in lower light and flow before moving them to their final position. Coral response can vary depending on tank stability, lighting, flow, and water parameters.

Photography

We photograph our corals in house, up close, so you can judge color, shape and polyp extension. For WYSIWYG listings with one in stock, the photographed coral is the exact coral that ships.

SHOT IN HOUSE
