Description

Bright Red Aussie Goniopora

Typical needs for this coral type. Ask us if you're unsure.

Transform Your Tank with a Rare Living Jewel from Australia

Looking for a showpiece coral that truly commands attention? The Bright Red Aussie Goniopora is one of the most visually striking large-polyp stony corals available in the hobby — and one of the hardest to source in this color form. Australian-collected specimens are prized for their genetic hardiness and vivid, saturated coloration that aquacultured varieties rarely replicate. This is the kind of addition that stops visitors mid-step.

Goniopora colonies are famously dynamic — when fully extended, their long, flowing polyps create a mesmerizing "flower pot" effect that fills your reef tank with movement and life. Frags from quality Australian parent colonies acclimate well and, with stable parameters, grow into impressive, full colonies over time. For aquarists ready to meet their advanced care requirements, Gonis offer a deeply rewarding long-term relationship unlike almost any other coral in the hobby.

QUICK STATS & CARE GUIDE

  • Common Name: Bright Red Aussie Goniopora (Flower Pot Coral)
  • Current Size: Frag (approximately 1–1.5 inches on plug)
  • Care Level: Advanced — recommended for experienced reef keepers
  • Temperament: Semi-aggressive; extended polyps can sting neighboring corals — provide adequate spacing
  • Diet: Photosynthetic; benefits from target feeding with copepods, phytoplankton, and fine coral foods 2–3x per week
  • Reef Safe: Yes, with caution — maintain generous spacing from adjacent corals
  • Water Conditions: Temp 76–79°F | Salinity 1.025–1.026 | pH 8.1–8.3 | Alkalinity 8–9.5 dKH | Calcium 400–450 ppm | Magnesium 1250–1350 ppm | Moderate flow | Moderate lighting (PAR 50–150)

WHY BUY FROM THE CORAL BOUTIQUE?

Every specimen we ship from The Coral Boutique is ethically sourced, carefully quarantined, and fully conditioned in our Miami facility before it ever reaches your door. We don't ship until we're confident your coral is thriving — because your success is our reputation.

WYSIWYG on Select Items

If this coral is in our WYSIWYG collection and has one in stock, the photos show the exact frag or colony that ships to you. Otherwise, the photos may be representative.

Shipping & Pickup

Coral orders ship Monday through Wednesday. We confirm a delivery day with you before your order goes out, and we will hold it if the weather is bad or a coral needs more time in quarantine.

Coral orders over $399 qualify for free shipping. Fish orders over $599 qualify for free shipping. Free same-day Miami pickup is available at 46 NW 36th St and is usually ready in 1–2 hours.

Live Arrival Guarantee

Eligible coral orders are covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee. Photograph the coral in its sealed bag before you open anything, then email that photo with your order number within two hours of delivery. Our team reviews every claim and gets you an answer within one business day.

Acclimation

For best results, acclimate slowly and place new corals in lower light and flow before moving them to their final position. Coral response can vary depending on tank stability, lighting, flow, and water parameters.

Photography

We photograph our corals in house, up close, so you can judge color, shape and polyp extension. For WYSIWYG listings with one in stock, the photographed coral is the exact coral that ships.
