Description

Male Rhomboid Wrasse

Transform Your Tank with One of the Rarest Fairy Wrasses the Ocean Has to Offer

Looking for a wrasse that experienced collectors actively hunt and rarely find? The Rhomboid Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus rhomboidalis) is a species so seldom seen in the trade that most reefers go their entire time in the hobby without ever encountering one available for purchase. The male's coloration is immediately arresting — a warm golden-yellow body paired with a pale blue head and intricate darkish blue line patterning that runs across the entire specimen, creating a layered, complex appearance that rewards every close look. Its rarity in the trade is not manufactured scarcity — it comes directly from an extremely limited collection range that makes consistent availability nearly impossible. When one surfaces, serious collectors move on it.

The Rhomboid Wrasse carries the same care profile as other Cirrhilabrus species — active, reef safe, and peaceful with most tankmates. It spends its day exploring every corner of the tank with the constant, fluid movement that makes fairy wrasses so enjoyable to watch. A mature system with stable parameters and a tight-fitting lid are non-negotiable. This is a species for the dedicated reefer who has the setup ready and knows exactly what they're looking at.

Why Buy From The Coral Boutique?

Every specimen we ship has been quarantined, conditioned, and eating before it leaves our facility. Rare Cirrhilabrus species are sensitive during acclimation — ours arrive stable and ready to settle into their new environment from day one.

Acclimation

Acclimate fish carefully and introduce them into a stable, established saltwater aquarium. Match temperature and salinity slowly, keep lights low during introduction, and monitor behavior closely after release.

Photography

We photograph our fish under balanced, aquarium-safe lighting to accurately represent their true coloration and patterning. Our goal is to show how each fish will appear in a home reef or marine setup—not under overly blue or altered lighting.

Because fish are active and constantly moving, images are representative of the species and quality you can expect. Every fish is carefully selected for health, coloration, and temperament before shipping.
