Description

Iron Man Disco Mushroom

Typical needs for this coral type. Ask us if you're unsure.

Transform Your Tank with a Living, Pulsing Light Show

Looking for a showstopper that earns double-takes... The Iron Man Disco Mushroom is one of the most visually striking Discosoma variants in the hobby, flashing bold reds, electric blues, and metallic gold — a color combination that genuinely earns its superhero name. This is not a mushroom you stumble upon at a big-box store. Collectors actively hunt this morph, and availability is always limited. Under reef-grade LED lighting, the iridescent shimmer is nothing short of hypnotic.

Disco Mushrooms are encrusting soft corals that spread gradually across rockwork, eventually forming dense, gem-colored colonies that fill mid-to-low zones of your reef tank beautifully. They're forgiving enough for beginner aquarists yet desirable enough to anchor a high-end display — a rare combination. Expect steady growth in stable water conditions, and watch as each polyp pulses and shifts with the flow of your system.

QUICK STATS & CARE GUIDE

  • Common Name: Iron Man Disco Mushroom (Discosoma sp.)
  • Current Size: Approx. 1–2 inches per polyp
  • Care Level: Easy to Moderate
  • Temperament: Semi-aggressive — provide adequate spacing from neighboring corals
  • Diet: Photosynthetic; benefits from occasional target feeding with microplankton or reef-blend foods
  • Reef Safe: Yes, with caution — can encroach on adjacent corals over time
  • Water Conditions: Temp 76–80°F | Salinity 1.025–1.026 | pH 8.1–8.3 | Low flow | Low to moderate lighting (PAR 50–150)

WHY BUY FROM THE CORAL BOUTIQUE?

Every specimen from The Coral Boutique is ethically sourced, quarantined, and fully conditioned in our Miami facility before it ever ships to you — so you're receiving healthy, acclimated marine life that's already thriving, not just surviving. We won't box it until we're confident it's ready, because your reef deserves nothing less.

WYSIWYG on Select Items

If this coral is in our WYSIWYG collection and has one in stock, the photos show the exact frag or colony that ships to you. Otherwise, the photos may be representative.

Shipping & Pickup

Coral orders ship Monday through Wednesday. We confirm a delivery day with you before your order goes out, and we will hold it if the weather is bad or a coral needs more time in quarantine.

Coral orders over $399 qualify for free shipping. Fish orders over $599 qualify for free shipping. Free same-day Miami pickup is available at 46 NW 36th St and is usually ready in 1–2 hours.

Live Arrival Guarantee

Eligible coral orders are covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee. Photograph the coral in its sealed bag before you open anything, then email that photo with your order number within two hours of delivery. Our team reviews every claim and gets you an answer within one business day.

Acclimation

For best results, acclimate slowly and place new corals in lower light and flow before moving them to their final position. Coral response can vary depending on tank stability, lighting, flow, and water parameters.

Photography

We photograph our corals in house, up close, so you can judge color, shape and polyp extension. For WYSIWYG listings with one in stock, the photographed coral is the exact coral that ships.

SHOT IN HOUSE

What You See Is What You Get on Select Items.
