Description

Black Tang (8") — Zebrasoma rostratum Transform Your Tank with the Rarest Dark Jewel in the Reef Hobby

Looking for the ultimate statement piece for your saltwater aquarium? The Black Tang is one of the most elusive and highly coveted additions the marine aquarium world has to offer — and at 8 inches, this is a fully mature, exhibition-grade specimen that is extraordinarily rare to find at this size. Exclusively available at The Coral Boutique, this is the kind of centerpiece that defines a collection. Jet-black from snout to tail with an impossibly sleek silhouette, the Black Tang carries a presence in the water column that no photograph can fully capture. For the dedicated reef hobbyist who has built toward something truly exceptional, this is it.

At 8 inches, this is a fully grown, exhibition-ready specimen — no waiting, no growing out. The Black Tang is native to the deep outer reefs of the Central Pacific, an origin that makes it genuinely hard to source at any size, let alone at this caliber. Its striking all-black coloration intensifies under reef lighting, creating a dramatic visual contrast against corals, rockwork, and the rest of your display. Active, confident, and built for the open water column, this specimen will immediately establish itself as the focal point of any large-format reef or FOWLR system.

Acclimation

Acclimate fish carefully and introduce them into a stable, established saltwater aquarium. Match temperature and salinity slowly, keep lights low during introduction, and monitor behavior closely after release.

Photography

We photograph our fish under balanced, aquarium-safe lighting to accurately represent their true coloration and patterning. Our goal is to show how each fish will appear in a home reef or marine setup—not under overly blue or altered lighting.

Because fish are active and constantly moving, images are representative of the species and quality you can expect. Every fish is carefully selected for health, coloration, and temperament before shipping.

SELECTED FOR ESTABLISHED SYSTEMS

Healthy Fish Start With Careful Selection.
