Description

Flashing Tile (Hoplolatilus chlupatyi)

Transform Your Tank with a Living Kaleidoscope of Color

Looking for a rare, reef-safe showpiece that stops every visitor in their tracks? The Flashing Tile (Hoplolatilus chlupatyi) is one of the most visually spectacular and sought-after specimens available in the saltwater aquarium hobby — and when you find one at The Coral Boutique, you know it's the real deal. Prized for its iridescent, constantly shifting coloration of electric blues, purples, yellows, and metallic highlights, this exotic marine species earns its name every time the light catches its scales. It's not just a specimen — it's a living light show.

Native to the deeper reef slopes of the Indo-Pacific, this rare saltwater species brings both beauty and natural behavior to your marine aquarium. The Flashing Tile is a natural burrower, darting gracefully between open water and the safety of sandy retreats with a fluid, gliding swim style that's endlessly entertaining to watch. Once settled and comfortable in a stable reef tank, it will regularly emerge to display its full iridescent brilliance — especially under quality reef lighting during feeding time. Its peaceful nature and reef-safe status make it an ideal centerpiece for mixed community aquariums where it can truly shine.

Acclimation

Acclimate fish carefully and introduce them into a stable, established saltwater aquarium. Match temperature and salinity slowly, keep lights low during introduction, and monitor behavior closely after release.

Photography

We photograph our fish under balanced, aquarium-safe lighting to accurately represent their true coloration and patterning. Our goal is to show how each fish will appear in a home reef or marine setup—not under overly blue or altered lighting.

Because fish are active and constantly moving, images are representative of the species and quality you can expect. Every fish is carefully selected for health, coloration, and temperament before shipping.
